Number (वचन)

Nouns का वह रूप जिससे यह पता चले की noun की संख्या 1 है या 2, number कहलाता है
जैसे:-
pen, teacher, tables, girls, man
Kinds Of Number (वचन के प्रकार)
Number निम्नलिखित 2 प्रकार का होता है l
1- Singular Number (एक वचन)
2- Plural Number (बहुवचन)

1- Singular Number (एक वचन)
ऐसे nouns जिनसे उनकी एक ही संख्या व्यक्त होती है, एकवचन कहलाते हैं l
जैसे:-
man, dog, cock, lion, king, father, ox etc.
2- Plural Number (बहुवचन)
ऐसे nouns जिनसे उनकी एक से अधिक संख्या व्यक्त होती है, बहुवचन कहलाते हैं l
जैसे:-
Queens, lions, hens, kings, cows, men, women etc.

Singular से Plural बनाना
Singular से Plural बनाने के प्रमुख नियम निम्नलिखित हैं l
1- By Adding ‘s’ at the end of the words (शब्दों के अंत में ‘s’ जोड़ करके)
इसके अंतर्गत दिए शब्द के अंत में ‘s’ जोड़ देते हैं, जिसका उच्चारण ‘स’ या ‘ज’ करके निकलता है

2- दिए गए nouns के अंत में यदि ‘s, ss, ch, sh या x आता है तो plural बनाने के लिए उनके अंत में ‘es’ जोड़ते हैं, जिसका उच्चारण ‘ऐज’ करते है l
जैसे:-

3- यदि noun के अंत में ‘y’ आया हो और उससे पहले a, e, o में से कोई vowel आया हो तो plural बनाते समय noun के अंत में ‘s’ लगा देते हैं l
जैसे:-

4- यदि noun के अंत में ‘y’ आया हो और उससे पहले कोई consonant आया हो तो plural बनाते समय ‘y’ को हटा देते हैं और उसी के स्थान पर ‘ies’ लगा देते हैं l
